Chap Goh Meh 2026

Chap Goh Meh dinner at home with my girls.

Blue rice (nasi lemak) on the menu — because when it’s a crowd favourite, why overthink it?  Zero debates, zero complaints… just empty plates!

Woo tau koe made its appearance and of course we had to end with loe sang toss.

It’s a wrap for CNY at our place — full bellies… messy table… happy chaos and lots of giggles… and was worth another day of having “a bad leg”? = IYKYK!

Eva turns 8 - 4/3/2026

Just like that… my Eva has turned 8!

It has been the sweetest journey “grammy-ing” you and watching you grow into such a beautiful little human…. sweet, thoughtful, kind and generous — you truly possess all the qualities of a wonderful granddaughter.

Yes… my life style has been a little more cramped and a lot busier… but you are absolutely worth every single moment.  Now with the both of you girls in my world… you bring me endless joy and fill spaces in my heart I did not even know needed filling!!!

So happy to be right here celebrating you today.  Happy 8th Birthday, my darling Eva — popoh loves you to the moon and back!

You requested a homemade cake… an orange one 🍊🎂

Of course I had to make it happen.

The cake itself turned out beautifully — soft, fragrant and bursting with orange goodness.  The frosting though? Total flop… It nearly became a kitchen disaster.

Thankfully Aunty Lillie Giang swooped in to save the day! With a little tweaking and teamwork… we rescued the frosting and got it looking birthday-ready.

If I may say so myself… it was a very delicious orange cake indeed and everyone enjoyed it!  Made with love, a dash of panic… and a whole lot of heart!

CNY Year of the Horse (17/2/26)

This year for Reunion Dinner we had 9 of us including Sha n Suzie join us at Zita Street!  Our lst Chinese New Year in this house.

Cooked 12 mains and had 3 desserts.

Dishes were … loe sang, jew hoo char n pee hoo char combo, crackling pork, mushroom brocolli, wontons, mixed veggies fishballs n scallops, cold prawns n hot wine steamed prawns, peking chicken wraps, lobak, beef rendang, lotus root soup.. phew my leg was standing all day all cooking etc and was aching for next 2 weeks!!!

The dishes as below….. 13 dishes

For dessert, we had sago pudding, mango jelly and the biggest cherries!

I was running late, good job Sha and Susie chipped in to help so we could eat dinner on time!  At one stage I had all hands on deck including the girls wrapping wontons including Lola.

Guess everyone had a hand in preparation and that makes it extra special and there was definitely too much to eat… which means there will be plenty left over for the new year!!!

It was very low key.  Just family and a couple of friends gathering to mark the occasion and to usher in the New Year of the Horse!

Let’s keep galloping and see what is in store for all of us and wish everyone good health.. wealth and happiness!!!
