Simona turns 3

We did not quite make it to our planned getaway to Tree Tops for Simona’s birthday weekend, but celebrated at Lollipops with “Build a Bear” and Rapunzel.  Plans did not quite go to plan… all packed weeks ago and suddenly no where to go (F had a heart scare and is now waiting for a bypass) so we hastily moved to Plan B and frantically rang around to find a venue to host a small party for Simona.

So stressful but luckily everything fell into place nicely and all Rapunzel had to do was drive to a different location! Let the fun begin……

The arvo kicked off by building a bear with special mention that SM’s bear has some of her pet dog Brodie’s fur stuffed inside the bear!

Rapunzel made an appearance and it was full on nonstop entertainment for the kids.  Dancing.. singing.. magic.. story telling.. face painting.. bubbles and even fairy dust!

In between cake and face painting some of the kids ran off to enjoy the play equipment.  Simon held up very well as she is a bit “under the weather” but she was determined she will make the most of her party and put on a brave face throughout the 2.5hours at Lollipops!

On the way home… Simona “let her hair down” in the car.  She felt like jelly and her nose was like a tap but we could tell she enjoyed her party like a true “Little Rapunzel”!

Truffle Hunt Red Hill/Monalto

Today … 23/7/23 at 8c and it’s cold and it got wet along the way driving to Red Hill.  We are going truffle hunting followed by a 5 course lunch “truffle infused menu” at Monalto’s.

By now… it’s pouring down with rain!  After gathering around the fireplace for an information session on growing truffles we set out to hunt truffles with our guide dog Maddie.

We found a few throughout the hour or so outside in the fields and then headed back to the farmshop for welcome drinks and purchase of various truffle inspired produce.  Everything tasted so yummz but the one thing I would use and eat most of would be the truffle mustard so I bought 3 jars.  The whole range of truffle this n that ie: honey…aioli…paste…mustard… butter etc were $29.00 each!

Obviously we saw how they washed the dirt off the truffles etc and they did smell divine.  Now after learning and getting more information about truffles, I totally understand why this fungi is such a delicacy and why it is expensive!!!

Now off to Monalto for our long awaited lunch.  5 course but it was over 3.5hrs and was way too long for my liking especially the serves were tiny apart from the mains!  If not for Ozempic I would have had to eat the menu at least 3times over to be satisfied…lol

It’s a wrap!  It was a lovely day although we were wet n muddy but I got to spend a whole day out without the kids and just with Becky!!!
