Malaysia/Sabah 2025

This trip to Malaysia came about when LG asked me to join her to China.  China is not for me, so I said I could possibly meet up with her when we are in KL.  Then this and that followed and before you know it, I was everywhere and did not even have a free day to scratch myself!

:;::::Break down in bullet points::::::

- To meet Lillie n David in KL.

- To see the Tan’s back from Edinburgh and to collect my Turkish towel from Istanbul that MY bought for me.

- To collect keropok from Klang. Long story short, they were worth the trouble as it is very yummy!

Sambal belachan got carried back to Melbourne by the Singapore aunties, so there was no need for me to make a trip into Singapore.

                   Singapore Aunties - M and A

Since I did not have to go to Singapore, so Noon n myself made a side trip to Malacca.

- Dentist

Dr Tracey did a deep clean and all is good, so she sent me off for the famous beef balls noodle soup etc next door to her clinic.

- Uncle Chim’s resting place - Nivana

Ivy came to fetch me and we went to spend some time with UChim and ASally.  We had lunch together afterwards in one of UChim’s favourite restaurant, Putein.

Ivy Chim

- Catch up with YPohs, my Minzes, MPS buddies, Red Skirt ladies, etc

- Durians

According to my photos, i have had 10 different durian sessions over the past 3 weeks I was in KL and I managed to eat durian in Malacca and Semporna too.  So happy I was back during durian season.  Take all my money!!!

- UC’s Birthday Celebrations

As usual, it was grand scale catering and UC turns 67 and there were easily a couple of hundred guests at his birthday.  Plenty to eat and drink but I zoomed in on the satays!  Absolutely delicious.  Think I go back not for the barracudas anymore, but it’s for the satay!!!

- JW getting his Open Water in Mabul and Jamilah Ang arranged everything for us from accommodation, transfers, OW course and side trips!

- Ang Koo Class was conducted by Mrs Wu at Lisa’s penthouse kitchen.  I am not an Ang Koo fan but must admit the Ang Koo skin was silky smooth in texture.

- Belimbing

This fruit is sour and is used in cooking.  I have not eaten it for so many years.. so I stole some off some random person’s house but the belimbings were hanging outside the fence so I reached over the monsoon drain and picked enough to cook up a dish!  Simple pleasures and so delish I had xtra 3 plates of rice and polished up the plate of belimbings.

Belimbings

Belimbing with pork

Belimbing with ikan bilis

No name but used to eat it pickled
when I was a kid

So much more happened but these are the outstanding highlights for me on this trip… obviously, it was a gr8 trip because I got to see the tornado of barracudas at Sipadan!

Until next year??? Let’s see where 2026 takes me on my travels.
