Bendigo Zinda Festival - 26/9/25

The Zinda Festival in Bendigo was so fun so we made a whole weekend out of it and we even landed up in Echuca!

First up, we picked up Ellie from Taylor’s Lake and headed to Macedon for breakfast in a nice cafe before setting off on our travels with happy full bellies.

After breakfast, we went to Anne’s Winery.  After tasting a few local varieties, we walked out with 7 bottles between us.

We went to the biggest stupa along the way and then I got dropped off at the Zinda Festival to help LG doing her cooking class and demonstrations whilst the ladies checked into our accommodation for the night.

Found LG inbetween the bamboo forest doing her thing!  It was an outdoors kitchen but luckily we had perfect weather.  The demo sessions were a sell out and the kids loved the “hands on” approach making their own creations.  Not only was it fun, but it tasted delicious too and they were surprised to be given their onigiri making “tool kit” and left over ingredients to take home.

The festival had heaps of food trucks, cultural shows, fire crackers, and even a good dragon dance enjoyed by everyone who came to be part of the festival.

Officially, the festival is over but we stayed on in Bendigo.  After a mini rest at the motel, we freshened up and went out for dinner and did our “touristy tulip” things around the town.

No where really for us to paint the town red.  Shame, the only rooftop bar in town has closed down a couple of months ago!

We drove around town and landed up in Coles.  We bought some munchies to have our own party in PJs in bed drinking wine and eating cheese and just chin wagging and chilling till we all fell asleep.

Woke up and drove around to find breakfast and found a quaint old bakery selling artisan goods and we were off to our canola walk!
Think we spent like 4 hours there working up my hayfever!

After the canola walk we decided to drive up to Echuca and spend a night there but unfortunately there was no accommodation available for the night!

We had a quick look around town, had the worst soulvalaki ever.. had a quick coffee whilst the crowd was watching the grand finals and shortly afterwards turned around and drove home!

I also forgot to mention we went past the silos and taking everything into consideration, it was a well packed weekend with good fun.. food and company!

Before we dropped Ellie off, we went for a late seafood dinner together.  Anyways, it was a short sweet weekend enjoyed by the 3 of us!
