Camping at Upper Yarra Reservoir 10/10/25

Camping is always lots of fun and a good way to get away from routine and chill in nature!

Within less than 3 weeks, everything came together and we left on Friday after Sop finished work.  We needed at least 2 nights away, so with daylight saving, it meant we could get there with just about enough time to pitch the tent before night falls!

Karen stirred up fried rice and sausages and with my roast chook, we had a late dinner.

We were so hungry we gobbled it all down, but once we got settled down, we started the fire pit and sat around it and just star gazed and roasted sweet potatoes for dessert.

Next morning, Sophie started the fire and got breakfast ready… cheese kransky hotdogs…Karen was making Teochew porridge with an assortment of interesting condiments.  Karen even made sweet potato gnocchi in a creamy mushroom sauce.

We had to work off our 3 course breakfast, so we went for walkies and down to the river.  We picked up more wood along the way to fuel our fire managed by Corrine our fire bug!

We chilled out for a bit and then it was my turn to prep the lunch.  Chicken wings grilled to death on the fire (lol) Eggplant grilled over fire pit coated with egg wash n shallow pan fried. Main course was alasim’s KFC version of chicken tender wraps.

Jessica arrived in time to join us with her 2 doggies. It felt like non stop eating but no one was complaining!

For those that wanted to go to the reservoir - they drove!  Others walked the dogs and I stayed back to look after the camp!

We had goreng pisang for afternoon tea.

For dinner we had 3 courses too and for mains, Karen cooked Korean belly pork, oyster omelette and we had too much food and was spoilt for choice!

This blog is so long overdue as it is the 3/2/2026 now… as I try to finish this blog whilst waiting for my car to be serviced!!!

Too hard to find more photos as well so I do apologise …. but know that the rest of the camping trip was even better than we first started out!!!

Ended this camp on a high note… everyone enjoyed themselves and look forward to the next camp!!
