“Hooked on Bellarine” was happening 8/10 so I decided to go up a day before to check out surroundings.
Main purpose of trip was to support Lillie Giang at the cooking demo on 8/10
but I managed to find a few interesting things to do to fill up the 2 days and make the most of my trip there!
The Mill
Checked out Curlewis.. Drysdale…The Dell and a few local wineries and had dinner at the Bellarine Estate with live duo @$10 per head … a total rip off!!!
Wanted to book a beach pod but was all booked out. So cute right??? and smack on the beach!
Accommodation was expensive n most were booked out too but found a camping place smack in the town centre with private ensuite and facing the beach so I did not hesitate to book it.

We had big trouble trying to set up tent. Camping neighbours helped to set up the tent n I had the most comfortable tent sleep ever bcos I had the normal camping stuff laid down plus an electric blanket layered on the ground and was toasty throughout the night!!!
Next morning we went straight to catch the Cooking Demonstration celebrating seafood! After the first course we had to leave on our mussel tour.
THE PORTARLINGTON MUSSEL TOUR
The minute we boarded “Valerie” it was free flow of drinks… kicking off with a glass of champagne in one hand and a feast of nibbles and was grazing throughout the 3 hours including the fresh caught oysters n mussels we pulled out from the Bay eaten either raw or cooked for us to perfection! I tried raw mussels for the first time and it was ok… I still prefer oysters!!!
It was educational… informative… and a lovely way to spend a few hours on the water and life did not seem too bad in the moment!!!
After we docked, we rushed back to catch the last cooking demo and it was fish curry with jasmin rice!!! We said goodbye to Lillie and headed for home.
Straight into the shower n straight into bed. I did not eat anything till the next day at lunch time! I was so tired… all I wanted was sleep and yes we had a great time in Portarlington!!!
