Happy Jilly - hostess with da mostest |
(This is not a typo - I do apologise as the "draft" has been sitting in the draft box for 2 years!!! it is 20/12/2019 today!)
Like they say... its better late than never!!!
Here is Jilly happy collecting entrance in her green Tupperware!
This year, Judy Yap was in town so we dragged her down the peninsula with us for a day on the grass.
As usual I prepared a good grass feed for all of us to enjoy and we never fail to be the "envy" table. Sometimes it is kind of embarrassing as peeps will walk up to our table to just check out our spread!!!... obviously, we always offer them to try our food and no one has ever turned down our offer so far!
This day is when you just enjoy the great peninsula outdoors sitting/lying or standing on the manicured lawn which was so luscious green this time of the year and we appreciate all the hard work Barry has been doing to keep it presentable and magical for our enjoyment.
Bring a picnic basket, enjoy the entertainment and just chill or relax with friends and family. Kids were playing on one side of the 3 acres, adults were mainly surrounding the stage area and the "Asian Ladies" were hiding in the enchanted forest as we much prefer the shade of the tea trees and colourful foliage planted around that area close to the "reflection" area.

This year, I was in charge of all the food - just Alice and Judy coming along so it was easy to cater for a small group and normally we invite Barry and Jill, our hosts to join us for a bite. Although I only prepared 4 dishes this year, there was plenty to feed all of us and one or two other "strays" that was hanging around sniffing our food on the table.
We had the "losang" which is tossing of the colourful vegetables and raw fresh salmon with other condiments in a plum sauce dressing. This is so refreshing and healthy not to mention yummy and it was the perfect dish on Sunday as the sun was out and it was just beautiful. Tossing for all sorts of wishes and hopefully some of our wishes will come true!!! We had fried vermicelli, but this time round, my speciality was the smoked salmon galette and it was a crowd pleaser, and we finished off with an assorted cheese platter washed down by green tea!!!
This day on the grass normally allows us ladies to catch up on all the happenings and goss etc over the last 12 months whilst being entertained by 5 different acts on this occasion, we rocked to their beat and tunes at the table nibbling on the antipasto and a variety of cheeses plus chocolates!!!
We had a bit of fun with my "now lounger" but the breeze was just not strong enough to fill up this contraption, but for the short period of time it was blown up, Alice and Judy had a nap together on it.
The weather was perfect, the company was great and the food got the thumbs up from everyone, so all in all it was a perfect Sunday outing and the Swayns managed to raise $1,566 towards Beyond Blue, so well done everyone for being generous and supportive and hope everyone enjoyed the gig!!! The Warrains was the main act and as usual, Chris and Kelly gave it their all and hands were clapping and feet were tapping. It was a fun day and for a good cause. Next!!!
